Top Free Hosts Blog Post Image

Sometimes to get started with a good website you need to start with a free website hosting company. Of course you usually get what you pay for. I used free hosting to play around with while learning to design, before I bought my first real domain name and paid hosting account. Below I have compiled a list of FREE hosting companies that have good stats and good reviews.

When I look for a free hosting company for my clients I look for a few things in particular. First they MUST be ad free. This means no advertisements anywhere on the page....period. I know they have to make money somewhere, but I would rather it not be in the direct view of my visitors. Secondly, I want a MySQL database since I write most of my code in PHP and it makes everything easier when you have a database to store all the dynamic information. Lastly, they must provide email account access. It just looks more professional for anyone when they have an email coming from the domain name rather then a generic email company. Take a look at the list we have of our favorite providers.

Bravenet

www.bravenet.com
Bravenet was my first ever experience with website hosting, just because they are well known around the internet. They were good to me and I still opt to receive emails from them regarding some of their services. They are good for static websites but you have to pay for PHP and MySQL interaction. One of the bad things with them for me was the ads they placed on your site. They were obtrusive and annoying, but I guess if you are not paying for it they need to make money someway.

Here is a list of all the specs they have for their free hosting:
Unlimited domains/ subdomains, 1.5GB bandwidth, 5MB disk space, 1 FTP account, and a great website builder.

000WebHost

If I had to choose a web host that provided free service I would choose 000webhost.com. They not only give you FREE ad-less hosting, you can also use their MySQL databases without having an extra charge. Their free hosting is almost as good as some hosting companies paid service.

Here is a list of all the specs they have for their free hosting:
5 domain / subdomains, CPANEL access, 2 MySQL databases, 5 email accounts, 1 FTP account, and a great website builder.

mysitepages

MySitePages is a great tool for beginners to get started with their own website. They are an ad free service that resembles 000Wehost in many ways. Website hosting submissions are reviewed by humans so they usually block out phishers or spammers. Usually.....

Here is a list of all the specs they have for their free hosting:
