Powers K9 Design Project

Powers K9 is a dog training service that is offered by David Powers in Gulfport, Mississippi. David is military trained and can get your dog to respond to commands or your training session is free. He can come to you if you need him to. He can give your dog the proper training they need and the proper training you want them to have.

David's site was a relatively simple site consisting only of 3 pages (not including the back end, secure administration). We will go in depth about our techniques used in the next paragraphs. First, we must point out the David requested a paw print be used for the mouse cursor. To accomplish this we created a javascript to mask the cursor with a black paw print. If the user does not have javascript turned on then they will see a cross hair mouse cursor.

The first page is his home page that gives a simple, yet effective overview of the entire site and his services. We tried to use colorful lettering to keep with a family theme, but not to colorful in order to keep with the aspect of professional training. His home page contains his commercials that once aired on the radio. This involves a simple button linked with dynamic javascript. We decided to include dogs of every breed in hopes that not only will they get a laugh (like with the only dog facing the wrong direction...see if you can spot him).

His bio page goes in depth about him, his past career, his family, and his new training program. We showcases his military medals and some random family pictures. Most of the information was taken from his biography when he ran for Supervisor of Gulfport.

Lastly we have his contact page. This is of course a simple contact form with a javascript CAPTCHA to try and prevent those nasty spammers. We included a image of a cute dog to accent the unused space.

His entire site contains valid HTML 4.01, and valid CSS 2.1. Powers K9 completion time was about 3 days.
